I won't give a big summary of the tour like I did yesterday because we didn't take many pictures. On the tour, we visited the Memorial church, took a bus to the Victory monument, walked to the Soviet war memorial (on the West Berlin side), memorial to the handicapped, the Resistance Museum, Topography of Terror exhibit, and Hitler's Bunker. It was so much information, and it really made me want to read more about events of WWII.
I thought this was an interesting view of the Memorial church. We actually went inside and looked at the photos of the area's destruction during WWII. It was unrecognizable after the bombings.
Aaron at the Soviet war memorial. The man at the top is a soldier who risked his life by crossing into battle fire to save the child from the arms of his dead mother. Our tour guide hasn't been able to find any information about what happened to the kid.
A nice picture of the Berlin wall.
After we finished the tour, we dashed back to our car and drove out of town. We headed 5.5 hours across the country to Koln, or Cologne in English. We stayed on the outskirts at the Ibis as just a resting place for the night (see other post for more info). It was a good rest for a big sightseeing day on Wednesday!April 29, 2008, Berlin, Germany
