How we spent our Egyptian Vacation

So, all of our faithful readers are probably expecting a slew of posts since we had Kelly's laptop with us on the dive safari (that's UK speak) and must've been taking hundreds of pictures per day. If only that were the case.

First, some background. About a week and a half before our dive trip, we had some sick people walking around our office. Sick + Dive Vacation = Bad News so we weren't particularly thrilled with the dedication our coworkers were showing to their jobs. Then, we went to Puglia and the heater in our room went on the fritz and we both ended up with dry, sore throats.

You see where this is going. Sore throat plus sick coworkers equals Aaron hitting the water for the first dive, getting down about 10ft and thinking all sorts of nasty thoughts as the water pressure attempts to crush my ears and I can't get them to clear at all... so much for SCUBA diving!

The good news was that our dive guide Ute knew a thing or two about blocked up heads and introduced us to our new best friend, Vicks VapoRub. Mix that with a little hot water and a big old towel and miracles happen.

Here's a shot of how I spent the better part of my dive safari.
Kelly joined me shortly thereafter...
So instead of taking thousands of fantastic underwater photos to share with you, we spent the week trying to make lemonade out of our lemons. We did manage a number of good dives. I'll have a follow up post summarizing the trip and will hope that Kelly selects a few good photos to share with you all.

We really did have a good time...

Edited by Kelly to add: Yes, we did have a great time even with the trouble of sickness. Check back in a few days to see if any of the Italians that got us sick survived my first days back to work!

Make sure you get a picture of the body count! Too bad you guys were sick. Were these pictures taken on a boat? Good thing you didn't get sea sick too. I would have...

That's on the boat. It's the half of the "dining room" that didn't get used for dinner since there were only 8 of us on the boat (full load is normally 20)

I didn't have any seasickness problems and I think Kelly did ok as well. Worse place on the boat was in our bathroom when we were really moving. Right up in the bow and no visual reference.

I spent some time on the sun deck which must've been close to 40' above the water. The captain drove up their sometimes. Really had a feel for the rocking boat but you also had a good horizon to watch.

All that talk about rocking boats is making me sick.... But good old Vicks Vapors... mmmmm mmmmm brings back good memories. Almost worth getting sick... LOL I keep it next to my bed - always! Grew up with the stuff.
