Here is Aaron in the morning at one of the canals. Does he look cold? Or at least wet? Yeah, it rained pretty much the whole day. We even wore rain pants over our jeans.
A pretty building in Venice.
A nice canal.
Yes, Venice was busy this weekend. It got pretty irritating with all the umbrellas. We didn't carry them, but other peoples' got really annoying.
We decided to take a ride out to Burano to walk around. The island is famous for its lace making (we even saw a woman making lace in window). It is quite a ride out, but the buildings are a different style that I like. Plus, we had a decent meal out there.
Aaron trying to not fall in on Burano (hehehe...just kidding).
Kelly was there, too. This is a different canal.
A shot of one of the canals.
In the spirit of carnival, we bought masks. Here are the ones we bought while we were out on Burano.
After the trip out to Burano, we took the boat back to Venice and went back to our hotel to change and clean up for dinner. We went out to Lido, a big beach island that is a barrier to Venice. We had a great meal out there one time, so we decided that it was worthwhile to take the 10 minute boat ride to eat there again. The restaurant was called Roxy. We had mussels Roxy for appetizer (awesome) for appetizers. I had shrimp curry pasta (seriously the best shrimp ever) and Aaron had spaghetti with clams (pretty darn good). I'm sure this isn't interesting for everyone, but I want to have a reference if we go back...yup, I'm selfish.
Anyway, after dinner we took the boat back to the edge of Venice and walked down towards Piazza San Marco. We took a few pictures on the way. The canon did ok - would have been better with the DSLR, but the small camera was way more convenient.
This is a photo of the landscape. The left tower is Chiesa San Giorgio, the center dome is Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore, and the right is the clock tower in Piazza San Marco.
Here we are with the same background. I look a little funny, but it was hard for me to hold still while we had a long shutter!
We walked back into Piazza San Marco for the Carnival festivities. There wasn't a whole lot going on, but they had good music. We had some Vin Brule (also known as gluwein in Germany and hot spiced wine in English). We also checked out lots of costumes and peaked in at some of the balls where people were dressed up.
Here is a picture of me having fun dancing. Aaron was laughing really hard, but I had a great time!
These are a couple of costumes from Saturday. Here is Aaron with this lady in pink. She LOVED having photos taken and would pose with you. It was cool!
These people looked snobby and acted snobby. It was funny to watch.
I don't know if it is visible, but check out the chest of the middle lady...funny!
I like the red and gold...
Ok...so that was Saturday...I hope to do Sunday tomorrow :) Ciao ciao!

It looks like you had fun regardless of the weather. Brilliant night shot, BTW. That one is definitely a candidate to hang on your wall when you get home. I like the sky the most. Something about capturing a city at night really amazes me. Nice shot.
Went skiing tonight. Had fun. Tired. Nha out.
Great pictures. Couldn't believe that you were going to get to be in Venice during the carnival. I read about it in the paper the same day you said you were going. (P.S. I would make an identity but I probably wouldn't be able to remember it next time I signed on) Mom G.
