Dolomiti versus St Anton

"So let me get this straight. You skied between towns? How cool is that? And how cool is it to have a town called Zug? Aaron and Matt must have had a good giggle about that. Zug Zug, hehehe. And an amazing 1km trail?"

I'm responding here since nobody ever reads comments...

Ya know, I didn't even pick up on the "Zug zug" bit. That's pretty good. Will have to check with Matt.

I haven't been out West but I think the big difference between European and American resort skiing is this idea of skiing from village to village. Here, there were a bunch of villages and ski slopes grew up around them. Back home, it seems like the develop the slopes then build the town.

When we went to Dolomiti Superski last year, the town to town skiing was on an even bigger scale. (google it!) Comparing the two, I suspect St Anton easily takes the cake for "off piste" powder skiing when there is a decent snowfall.

DS had more steep trails and they did a much better job grooming the trails (I don't remember there being potholes). The food was also more plentiful and with a greater variety in DS. If you know where to go though, the food in St Anton is pretty good and I have to give them the nod on their ski transportation system.

Well, gotta get busy figuring out the plan for this weekend. We were thinking about heading up to Amatrice for some cycling but that appears to be out of the cards.

Aaron out!

Yeah, Aaron, you should do it more often.

I do really enjoy skiing. I tried snowboard once this year. Oh, what a difference! Getting on and off lifts were definitely pain in the ass. Falling was also pain in the ass. So really snowboarding is just pain the ass. I was so so so happy switching back to skiing. YEAH SKIING!
