First Day of Skiing
On Sunday morning, we got up and took the ski bus to the Nasserein Bahn (gondola). From there we took the 6 person high speed quad up to the top to start our skiing. It was a bit rough for me at first because I forgot how to ski :) Well, not really, but I did struggle for the first day or two. It will be nice to ski on a more consistent basis again.
Anyway, here are some pictures. This is Aaron at the top of the Kapall (6 person lift). You can see it was nicely groomed snow up here. Some places had some really uneven grooming, but this was nice.
Matt at the top of Kapall. He looks cool, right?
Aaron again with a T-Bar in the background. This ran a short part of the hill to the top of Kapall. I didn't ride it, but Aaron and Matt did.
Matt with his crazy hair at lunch.
After skiing some of the St. Anton mountain, we skied (and tow roped and walked) over to Rendl. Yeah, we should have taken the ski bus. We took the Rendl Bahn (old, old gondola) up to the top because we heard it was nice for snowboarding, afternoon snow and not so busy. This was a picture back into St. Anton from the gondola.
Aaron on Rendl (ski like a duck...hahaha). We had some adventures here when we first got there. We went down a hill and ended up at the bottom of a T-Bar. It was either suffer up that or go off-piste. Aaron and Matt chose to suffer down the off-piste. I chose the t-bar and had a nice run down.
A nice picture of the area. There was this double chair that took you up to a couple of ski routes. Ski routes are marked off-piste areas (sort of trails). It was in great condition on this day.
Matt getting ready to snowboard. Doesn't he look thrilled?
And proof that I was there, too! I am at the top of the ski route on Rendl. This was fun!
I added a video of me skiing and Matt snowboarding. I think you might be able to hear me scream as I got a bit out of control (yeah, Aaron wanted to take video on the first or second run...not the best idea).
It really was a good first day. I was very impressed with the beauty of the area. I mean, how could you not be?

Nice photos. It doesn't look too busy, but then again you guys were there during a weekday. The first picture to catch my eye was the one with Aaron with the T-Bar in the background. I think it's hilarious that the T-Bar is that high up, and the two people riding the T-Bar are so far from the actual lift cable. So how does that work? Is it just a spring loaded cable that connects the actual T-Bar to the lift cable? Aaron looks like he's laughing at them.
Second photo of Matt and his do. Is there some significance of the T-Shirt to his left? Otherwise, Matt needs some frizz-be-gone. Looks warm to be eating lunch in a T-shirt.
Third photo of Aaron with the horde of people to his left. What's going on there?
Looks like an awesome start to the vacation. The videos are pretty cool too - makes me feel like I was there...swish swish swish swish. (That's the sound my skis make...)
Third photo:
That's "Rendl Beach" People take the gondola up and spend the day lying in the sun drinking booze. That's why we typically tried to get down the mountain before the bar closed. Not sure how many drunks were on the trail versus the gondola :)
