Ski Vacation - Tuesday - Skiing - Day 5

Third Day of Skiing

Are you tired of skiing pictures yet? If you are, too bad! It is really for our memory rather than entertainment purposes. Anyway, this is our typical daily routine in the mountains:
--Aaron gets us Matt and I up around 7 (he typically was up a little earlier)
--Aaron sets up break of bananas, fresh bread (delivered to door), and juice
--We all get ready and take a ski bus around 8 (or just after)
--Arrive at the Nassereinbahn around 8:30
--Change into boots and get skis from check in at the Nassereinbahn
--Get on lift around 8:45
--Ski all morning
--Have lunch around noon
--Ski until tired (usually around 3 but as late as 4 - last chair at 4:15)
--Back to Nassereinbahn to leave skis and boots
--Take bus back to the apartment (arrive around 4 or 5)
--Everyone showers and relaxes (Matt sleeps)
--Aaron cooks pasta and Kelly cooks spinach for dinner around 7
--Play gameboys, take a walk, fiddle on the computer, or read for a while
--Go to bed around 10
Exciting, huh? Doesn't sound that busy, but wow, those are exhausting days!

Tuesday was about the same as the other days. We started off on the Nasserein gondola and warmed up at the top of the Kapall lift. We made a trip down the black to the bottom and back up the Nasserein.

Matt and I taking a rest on the way down.

Aaron at the same spot on the way down. If you look closely, you can see the Nasserein gondola in the background. There is also the valley where we stayed.

Then we headed down a red trail that Matt didn't like (they do black, red and blue for hard, medium and easy) to the Galzigbahn. This is a new lift that has a ferris wheel mechanism on the lift. If you search, you can probably find more information on it (it is cool). After that we skied a really nice trail off of the four person high speed quad called Osthangbahn (ran a little above the Galzigbahn). It was a great cruiser run and certainly Matt's favorite.

Me at the top of this hill. The Osthangbahn lift is on the right side of the picture, and the trail goes down on the right of it.

Aaron at the bottom of the Osthangbahn lift. The mountain to the left of him is Rendl. Most of the skiing is on the top two-thirds of the mountain. You can see the trail cut through to the bottom of the lift.

A video of Aaron skiing down (he says I stopped filming just as he got into his rhythm. The quality isn't all that great because I made the mistake of zooming in a bit.

After a bunch of times down that, we wanted to go up to the Schindler Spitze, the high point of this side (2660 m). It has an old three person high speed lift (Schindergratbahn) going up there. It is really steep at the top (and scary because of the steepness). I was going to pull my camera out but was afraid to drop it. It was really cool though!

This is Aaron on the trail down from that lift.

Matt on the way down. It was a nice trail for skiing but not all that great for snowboarding.

This is me on the way down the same trail.

This trail led down into a valley between the mountain that has the Nassereinbahn and the Galzigbahn. There was a section in the valley where they had the trail really tiny, which we thought was strange. We found out later taht they had an avalanche in that section the day before. We never found out the details, but wow, these are some serious mountains!
